Sterling Supergroup Announces New Chairman
The Annual General Meeting at the Sterling Supergroup 59th Annual Conference in Gloucestershire last week included the announcement that John Whitechurch OBE of J&R Foodservice would be stepping down as Chairman of Sterling Supergroup after eight years of service.
During his time as Chairman, John provided great support to the group and helped maintain continuity across its activities. His ongoing involvement with Sterling Supergroup has been appreciated by members and suppliers alike.
Stepping into the role is Nigel Chadd, who recently sold his business, Chadd’s Foodsmiths, to fellow Sterling Member J&R Foodservice earlier this year. Nigel brings a wealth of experience and a long-standing connection to the Sterling community, making him a natural fit to take on the role of Chairman.
Nigel Chadd said, “I am honoured and delighted to become Chairman of the Sterling Supergroup. Sterling has been part of the Chadds DNA since the early 90’s. With the recent sale to our local friends and members at J & R Foodservice, this has released the appropriate time to invest in this role fully with dedication and enthusiasm.
As Chairman, my goal is to continue building on the strong foundation that has already been laid by our former Chairman, John Whitechurch, and the team at Sterling. I am committed to encouraging further collaboration and working closely with all our members and suppliers to support our shared goals and maximise the potential of the group.”
The announcement was met with warm appreciation from attendees, many of whom have worked closely with both John and Nigel over the years. The AGM also reflected the group’s increased engagement, with record attendance and discussions around data, sustainability, and future plans.
